Short-Term Running Goals:

Direct a successful Antelope Island Buffalo run in March 2011, Mountain View Trail Half Marathon in October, and the Antelope Island 50K/100K in November.

Tenative 2011 race and run schedule - Bonneville Shoreline Trail Marathon, Grandeur Peak fun run, Timp Trail Marathon, Pocatello 50 mile, Western States 100 mile, Vermont 100 mile, Leadville 100 mile, Wasatch 100 mile (yep, trying for the grand slam of ultrarunning), Striders Winter training series, Moab Red Hot 50K, Red Mountain 50K, Survivor Series 10K (Rockford, IL), Grand Canyon Double crossing, Zion traverse, Boise Half Ironman (my first tri).  Might Run the Ogden Valley 50 mile, the Pony Express 50 mile and maybe the Chimera 100 in November.  I'm a memeber of the Wasatch Speedgoat Mountain Racing Team (www.wasatchspeedgoat.com).  One of my major goals is to not embarass the team with poor finishes.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay injury free and still be able to outrun kids half my age.  Stay fit enough to keep up with my grandson.

Personal:

52, married for 30 years to the same wonderful woman, 2 grown kids, 1 grandson.

That's my son and I in the picture at the 2007 Buffalo Run.  He's always a big help and a pretty cool kid.

I direct the Antelope Island Buffalo Run, the Mountain View Trail Half Marathon, and the Antelope Island 50K/100K, all on Antelope Island State Park.  The website is www.buffalorun.org

Come on out and run it, we have a good time.

I post some of my more interesting runs at my blog www.ultrajim.blogspot.com.  Check it out.

Ran the White Rock/Split Rock trails on Antelope Island. Nice day, little breezy. Lots of horses out. Actually saw other runners. Don't see that too often. Did my trail patrol thing while there. Was a little sluggish, but the weather was nice and I enjoyed the run.

Did an easy run around the block during lunch. Little bit sore from yesterday's run. Gorgeous, sunny, near 70. Enjoyed it.

Interval time. 1/2 warmup, 6 x 1/2. 3:48, 3:15, 3:24, 3:16, 3:36, 3:24 1/2 cooldown. Very windy today. Obviously I was wind aided in one direction and wind hampered in the other.

Ran the Bonneville Shoreline Trail Marathon. Gorgeous day. Got really sunburned. Trail conditions were some of the worst I've seen. Everything from shoe sucking mud to 12" of slush and sno to 6-8" of ice water cascading down the trails with no where else to go. Took me just under 7 hours to complete. this race ran like at least a 50k. Many parts were completely unrunnable.

Ran from Fernwood picnic area up to about 6500' on Great Western Trail. Would've gone farther except for the 2 feet of soft snow in the way for the next 1/4 mile. Nice to be back on a little bit of the Wasatch course.

Did 6 easy around the block at work. Felt good. Rode bike to work for first time (19.5 round trip). Time for a little cross training. That wore me out.

Tempo. 1 mile warmup, 3.4 at around 10k pace, 1 mile cooldown. Rode bike to work again. Now my legs are really dead, but I expect the bike riding to pay off by increasing leg strength for hills.

22nd st. trailhead south towards Beus Canyon. Lots of fun. Great way to end work week. Ran most of the uphills. Something that I've not been able to do in the past. I must be getting into some sort of shape.

Ran Idian Trail and part of BST from 22nd street trailhead in Ogden. Not bad. Tough going uphill. Still some snow patches to cross. Managed to posthole up to me knees. Just adds to the excitement.

Ran home from work. Great run. Felt strong so pushed the pace. Didn't track elapsed time, but think it was a PR for that route.
