Well, I'm back running after a self imposed 2+ week layoff.  I decided to take a couple weeks off just to rest, relax, recharge for my upcoming training.  I find that if I do that at least once a year, I come back ready to go running again.  It kind of helps keep running from becoming drudgery.

Anyway, I ran about 6 miles at lunch today on one of my usual routes.  Just kind of took it easy.  I was surprised at how tired my legs felt.  I figured that after two weeks of rest I'd feel pretty strong.  Maybe it's the weighlifting I started up again last week.  At any rate, it felt good to be out running again.

My next goal, get my mileage back up and train for the 24 hour Across the Years race on December 31st.  I've run that race before and really enjoyed it.  You'd think that running around a 500 meter track for 24 hours would get boring, but it never did.  You're on the track with 50 others, music is playing, an aid station once every lap, electronic timing with instant updates, friends from across the country to run and talk with.  Lots of fun.  Two years ago I came in 9th out of 75 or so.  This time I'm hoping for a top 5 finish.  At the very least my goal is 110 miles (104 in 2005).  We'll see how it goes.

Ran around the block at lunch.  Felt pretty good to go that far again.

Ran the BST from kaysville to Fernwood and back.  First time on a trail in almost three weeks.  it was great.  The legs are doing fine.  A little tired due to the weight lifting I'm doing, but I feel that the lifting gets more important as i get older.
